Corporate Identity - HEX Codes

Hex codes are one of those behind-the-scenes details that create a STRONG Brand Identity.

What are HEX Codes and why do they matter?

If you’ve ever customized a website, designed a logo or even picked a colour in a design tool, you’ve probably come across something like this: #FF5733.

That’s a hex code – short for hexadecimal color code. It’s basically a universal language for colours on the web.

So… What exactly is a Hex Code?

A hex code is a six-digit combination of letters and numbers (usually starting with a #) that tells your screen exactly what colour to display.

Example:

#FFFFFF = white

#000000 = black

#FF0000 = red

Each pair of digits represents how much red, green and blue (RGB) is in the colour.

Why are Hex Codes important?

Hex codes aren’t just random numbers – they’re essential for keeping your visuals consistent.

Here’s why they matter:

  1. Brand Consistency. If you’re building a brand, using the same colours everywhere helps people recognize you instantly.
  2. Website Design. When customizing your blog or website (whether on WordPress or Shopify), hex codes ensure your colours look exactly the same across pages.
  3. Professional Look. Using specific, consistent colours makes your content feel more polished and intentional – even if you’re just starting out.
  4. Easy Sharing. Hex codes make it super easy to save and reuse your exact colours across different design programs like Canva.

Let’s use an example…

Let’s say one of your brand colours is a soft sunflower yellow 🌻
Instead of guessing the shade every time, you’d use one hex code (like #F7C948) everywhere — from your blog headers to your Instagram posts.

Hex codes might seem like a tiny detail but they play a huge role in creating a cohesive, beautiful brand and online presence. Whether you’re building a blog, growing a brand or sharing your journey online, understanding colour consistency can make all the difference.
